Flag Day, observed annually on June 14, commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States in 1777 -- 247 years ago. This day holds significant importance as it honors the enduring symbol of the nation's unity, freedom, and resilience. The American flag represents the principles and ideals upon which the country was founded, including liberty, justice, and democracy. Flag Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals to protect these values and the ongoing efforts to uphold them. Through various ceremonies and activities, Americans express their patriotism and respect for the flag, reflecting on its role in the nation's history and its continued presence as a beacon of hope and strength.
